Number 19

Remember to Vote Graphic

Renton residents will be receiving their general election ballots soon. You should be aware that, among items of statewide interest, your ballot contains a $676 million measure to provide funding for Renton School District to undertake large-scale construction projects to address the district's operational and maintenance issues.

School districts must develop long-range construction plans and ask voters for their support because the state does not fund all these projects.

The ballot measure requests funding for significant repairs and upgrades across the district to keep pace with our increasing population. The district also plans to purchase approximately 40 acres of land to build a new Renton High School.

Using September 2022 property valuation from the King County assessor's office, the district estimates passing this measure will lower the assessment from $3.55 to $3.16, 39 cents less. So, for example, the owner of a home with an assessed value of $500,000 would pay $195 less per year than under the previous assessment.

You can find a more detailed explanation of the measure on the Renton School District's website.

Please remember to vote. If mailing, ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day, Nov. 8, 2022. You may turn in your ballot on or before Election Day at any of these ballot drop-off locations in King County
