The Crime Statistics and Mapping page is designed to share crime statistics and mapping to track and display certain calls for service and criminal activity in the City of Renton. The page is designed to help you have a better understanding of crime in your neighborhood.

 

Crime Analyst

Our Crime Analyst performs professional and technical crime analysis duties such as collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and distributing information. The Crime Analyst studies crime reports, arrest reports, information from other agencies and 911 calls for service to identify emerging patterns, series, and trends in a timely manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide intelligence and crime analysis for patrol, investigations, and the department.

  • Liaison with outside agencies for monthly meetings, networking, and sharing of information.

  • Provide investigations and case support, i.e., link analysis charts, cell phone mapping, social media/open-source research.

  • Preparing statistics, data queries, or maps on demand.

  • Use crime-mapping technology, police reports and other raw data to develop a better understanding of criminal behaviors and trends.

  • Advise law enforcement officers about criminal behavior and trends.

  • Identify crime hot spots and advise on the allocation of police resources.

Crime Mapping

Renton Police Department, in efforts to provide its community with a better picture of crime affecting the neighborhoods they live or work in, has partnered with CityProtect to offer crime mapping and statistics. While we make every effort to provide timely, accurate information, the data provided to CityProtect is based on the original incident reported to the Renton Police Department. Supplemental reports or other factors which may impact an investigation will not update.

Additionally, the information displayed on the site is susceptible to error due to collection, entry, and processing of the data. Neither the City of Renton nor the Renton Police Department guarantee (either express or implied) the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or correct sequencing of the data provided on this site.

The City of Renton and Renton Police Department shall have no liability for any error or omission, or for the use of, or the results obtained from the use of this data. In addition, the City of Renton and Renton Police Department caution against using this data to make decisions/comparisons regarding the safety of or the amount of crime occurring in a particular area. The information is provided strictly as a courtesy to the public.

CityProtect is a third-party and by linking to CityProtect, you will exit the City of Renton website. CityProtect is best viewed in Chrome. It does not load properly in Internet Explorer.

Once you’ve linked to City Protect, you can use the search function to locate the City of Renton Agency Page. To customize the information, click on the “Filters” button on the upper left corner of the screen, and select the desired date range, specific days of the week, time range, and specific incidents. The crime map will load with incidents related to your search. To see specific incidents, click on specific symbols or view them in the left-hand column. Additionally, users can register to receive notice of incident updates.
