Community Based Mural Project Coming to the Benson Community This Fall!

The Benson Mural Project will create a public mural along SE Petrovitsky Road at the intersection with 116th AVE SE. The mural design will be a collaborative effort between the City of Renton, Renton Municipal Arts Commission, AmeriCorps VISTA Program, and the Benson Hill and Cascade community.

Together we will engage in online conversations and creative activities, focused on identifying what community means to these neighborhoods. The artist will also work with community members to identify the visual symbolism needed to create visual art. The result will be a unique public art piece that represents this community’s diverse perspectives and experiences.

The project is estimated to cost $30,000, with $15,000 coming from the City of Renton Neighborhood Program, and a matching grant of $15,000 from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission!
