Jury Trials
Jury trials have resumed for the Renton Municipal Court and summonses will be mailed for trials starting in October.  The initial jury assembly will be virtual via Zoom and those jurors selected by the parties to hear the case will be required to come to Renton City Hall for the trial proceeding.  The security and safety of all participants is of paramount importance to the Court and as such, we have implemented the following health and safety protocols:

  • The initial assembly of the jury will be virtual via Zoom;
  • The in-person jury panel will be brought into City Hall at one time to ensure safe and socially distant seating in the courtroom;
  • Each person arriving at Renton City Hall will have their temperature taken via a hand-held touchless thermometer;
  • Masks are required to be worn in City Hall and the courtrooms, with some exceptions for active trial participants.  While jurors are encouraged to bring their own masks, the Court will provide a mask for those that do not have one;
  • Courtroom seating will maintain a minimum of 6-feet social distancing;
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available and latex gloves offered to those who wish to wear them;
  • Increased cleaning and sanitization will occur in our courtrooms;
  • Jury deliberations will occur in a courtroom and not in a separate jury deliberation room. Our jury deliberation room is too small to allow for safe social distancing;
  • Removal of shared snacks and beverages from the jury room.   Bottled water will be available, and jurors will be permitted to bring their own water bottles.

Passport Processing Suspended
Passport processing has been suspended and will not resume until the public health emergency is over. Please do not contact the court requesting passport application appointments.
