COVID-19 Update:

Renton Municipal Court Modified Hearing Schedule Effective May 11, 2020:
Due to the current public health emergency, all hearings will be held virtually through the Zoom Meeting App until further notice. Virtual hearing notices will be mailed to all participants involved. If you have an upcoming hearing and have not received your virtual hearing notice, please contact the court for meeting login assistance.

Jury Trials Postponed
Jury trials have been postponed and will not resume until the public health emergency is over. If you have a summons to report for jury duty, you will not need to appear. The court will send new summonses once jury trials have resumed. 

Passport Processing Suspended
Passport processing has been suspended and will not resume until the public health emergency is over. Please do not contact the court requesting passport application appointments. 

Court Modifications and Orders
A complete list of court modifications is detailed in the Administrative Order signed Presiding Judge on June 17, 2020. On May 29, 2020 the Washington State Supreme Court issued The Third Revised and Extended Order Regarding Court Operations No. 25700-B-626 which outlines court operations for Civil and Criminal matters due to the continuing public health crisis. 

 

 

The mission of the Renton Municipal Court, as an independent and impartial branch of government, is to provide objective, accessible and timely resolution of all cases appropriately coming before the court, the protection of the rights of all individuals and the dignified and fair treatment of all parties.

The Renton Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. The municipal court judge is authorized by Washington State statute to preside over criminal misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic infractions and other City of Renton code violations.

The municipal court does not hear small claims cases, civil cases, change of names or issue marriage licenses. For these case types please call 206-205-9200 or visit King County.
