Move aligns with governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” executive order
RENTON, WA – In response to Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” executive order on Monday, March 23, the city of Renton has taken the following actions:
-
Closed Maplewood Golf Course, driving range and pro shop. No public access allowed.
-
Closed all restrooms, playgrounds, sport courts, fields and other active recreation areas within city parks.
-
Locked parking lot gates at parks.
All actions will remain in effect until the governor lifts his order.
City parks and trails will remain open for walks and non-active recreation, provided users practice proper social distancing. Please be safe as you enjoy these public spaces and:
City staff will regularly check the parks as will Renton Police. Officers will use “advise and educate” when addressing social distancing violations. They will explain the governor's order and ask for voluntary compliance. Please respect their decision; it is based on what is best for your health and safety and that of everyone you come into contact with. It is not their intention to detain or arrest. Residents observing large gatherings are asked to call the department’s non-emergency number at 425-235-2121.
