CITY OF RENTON WASHINGTON

Employees choose between the City's self-insured plan, administered by HMA using the Regence network; or the Kaiser Permanente plan. Both plans offer low premiums and out of pocket copays for medical, vision, and dental coverage for all regular employees and their eligible dependents. The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allows employees to set aside funds on a pre-tax basis for reimbursement of healthcare or dependent care expenses.

The City of Renton Employee Wellness (CREW) has resources available to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle:

• Exercise at no cost at various city facilities
• Receive a 50% discount on wellness classes at the Renton Community Center
• Annual Wellness Fair includes free flu shots and an assortment of screenings for regular employees
• Monthly "lunch and learn" opportunities on a variety of health topics

A confidential counseling assessment and referral service is available without cost to regular employees and family members for help with personal, family or job related problems.

The First Choice Employee Assistance Program is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, either online or by calling 800-777- 4114.

Life Insurance

The City provides Life Insurance equal to the employee's annual salary, capped at $50,000 for AFSCME and non-represented employees, and capped at $125,000 for Police Guild members. The City also provides Accidental Death and Dismemberment equal to the life insurance coverage, doubling the coverage in the event of accidental death, versus illness. 

Employees may purchase additional life insurance for themselves and their eligible dependents at the City's group rate.

Long Term Disability

The City provides employees other than Law Enforcement Officers with long term disability insurance that replaces 60% of their salary, if they become unable to work. Police Officers are covered by a similar policy provided by the Police Guild.
