Kiwanis Park will close for the rest of the year on Tuesday, April 26, as it undergoes a complete makeover. The park will remain closed through the remainder of the year.
The park will receive a new playground, a multi-use field with a grass outfield and all-weather infield, dugouts, backstop, and drainage. In addition, the existing basketball court will be renovated, the parking lot repaved, and new signage added. Other improvements include replacing the activity building with a parent plaza, shelter, and Portland Loo restroom.
Funding for the project comes from the 2019 Parks Bond.
The Kiwanis Park project is one of two currently underway and managed by our Parks Planning and Natural Resources Division. Work is also underway at Kennydale Beach Park, with completion scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend. Additional projects are planned for Cascade Park, Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, and Philip Arnold Park this year.
