Third Annual Renton Multicultural Festival is September 14 and 15

Two days of music and dance, community vendors, food trucks, and storytelling

RENTON, WA -- In just two years, the Renton Multicultural Festival has become one of the most successful events in the City of Renton as it showcases the city’s diverse and vibrant community through local and international performers.

The third annual festival will take place on September 14 and 15 and promises to be two days of colorful and fun entertainment. Admission to this family-friendly event is free.

From the Samoan Haka and traditional Cuban music to Irish step dancing and South Indian classical dance, the performers will share their culture on opening night, Friday, September 14, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Carco Theatre (1717 SE Maple Valley Highway).

On Saturday, September 15, the festival moves downtown to the Renton Pavilion Event Center and Piazza Park (233 Burnett Ave South) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two indoor stages will showcase music and dances from China, Brazil, Ukraine, Africa, Tahiti, Philippines, India, Mexico, Ireland and more.

Attendees will also be treated to cultural activities, community booths, food trucks, and arts and crafts. Instructors will lead the cultural activities, where attendees will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning. The festival will feature special celebrity appearances, including Miss India USA and Miss Washington.

Free parking is available at Carco Theatre on Friday and on downtown streets surrounding the Pavilion Event Center on Saturday. The City Center Garage (655 South 2nd Street) will be open and offers two hours of free parking.

The Renton Multicultural Festival is presented by the City of Renton in partnership with the Mayor’s Inclusion Task Force and several local community groups and organizations.
