City Honors Veterans on Memorial Day

Wreaths at Memorial DayWHAT: City of Renton’s annual Memorial Day ceremony. Ceremony will include representatives from VFW Posts #1263 and #3436 and American Legion Post #19, as well as the Renton Police Department Color Guard and VFW Post #1263 Ceremonial Honor Guard.

WHERE: Veterans Memorial Park, 523 Third Avenue, Renton, WA 98057. Parking is available nearby at 200 Mill Avenue South

Veterans Memorial Park features five walls in the shape of a star which represent the five branches of the service. Tiles engraved with the names of veterans are mounted on the walls. Information on purchasing a tile can be found online or by calling 425-430-6600.

The Renton History Museum, adjacent to Veterans Memorial Park, will be open from 12 to 3 p.m. and will debut a new World War II exhibit, “Hero’s Feast: Finding Community through Dungeons & Dragon.” Museum admission is free on May 27.
