Pastucha replaces Gregg Zimmerman, who retired after 30 years with the city
RENTON, WA – The Renton City Council confirmed Mayor Armondo Pavone’s appointment of Martin Pastucha Monday night as the city’s new public works administrator. Pastucha replaces Gregg Zimmerman, who retired in February after serving the city for 30 years.
“I am very excited to have Martin join our team,” said Mayor Armondo Pavone. “I’m extremely impressed with his experience and knowledge. He is an energetic team player who will make an immediate impact in Renton.”
Pastucha comes to Renton after a more than 30-year career in local government in both California and Washington.
He served as interim director of public works for City of San Fernando and as the director of public works for the cities of Redmond (Washington), Santa Monica, Pasadena and La Habra (California). He has also worked in various management and supervisory roles in public works for the cities of Tustin and Upland in California and as a management consultant. He has worked with regional construction authorities including LA METRO and Sound Transit on three separate Light Rail Projects. In addition, Pastucha has experience as airport director for the City of Santa Monica and significant interactions with the FAA, and airport users and tenants at the Santa Monica Airport.
While working in California, Pastucha served in various leadership roles, including president, of the Public Works Division of the League of California Cities and represented public works officers on the League Board of Directors. He is an active member of the American Public Works Association, previously serving on the International Affairs Committee, and as a board member for the Southern California Chapter of APWA.
“I am looking forward to joining the City of Renton,” said Pastucha. “The city has an excellent reputation for liveability and their public works department is regarded as one of the best in the region.”
Pastucha’s scheduled start date with the city is June 1, 2020.
