What is Age-Friendly Renton?
An Age-Friendly designation signifies a community’s commitment to health promotion; social inclusion, diversity, and cohesion; accessibility in the built environment as well as access to community resources and social services regardless of age. It is a citywide initiative to make Renton more livable for all ages.
It focuses on eight domains: Health & Safety, Nutrition/Food Access, Communication and Information, Housing, Transportation, Outdoor Spaces and Buildings, Civic Participation and Employment, and Social Participation and Inclusion.
This framework was created by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the AARP. Age-Friendly Renton is focused on improving the quality-of-life for all residents, ages 8 to 80.
