Everyone plays a part in reducing Renton's waste.

The role of residents

  • Separate recyclables from garbage
  • Put recyclables and garbage in appropriate containers
  • Close lids on containers
  • Contact the property manager if they notice hazardous waste or bulky items dumped in waste enclosures

The role of property managers

  • Provide adequate service for residents by requesting the appropriate size and combination of garbage and recycling containers from Republic Services
  • Pay for monthly garbage service
  • Contact Republic Services to replace damaged containers or to change container pickup frequency as needed

The role of Republic Services

  • Collect garbage and recycling
  • Manage all billing functions
  • Educate residents
  • Identify and replace damaged containers
  • Change container size or pickup frequency upon request
  • Report monthly waste volumes to the City of Renton

  • Educate residents
  • Set collection rates
