Community Police Academy

The Community Police Academy is a seven-week program designed to educate Renton community members about the operations and practices of their Renton Police Department. The program encourages participants to offer invaluable feedback, which is essential for fostering improved police and community relations.

Applications are now available for the 2024 Community Police Academy. Applications are due March 15. The academy will be held Tuesdays starting April 23 through June 4 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at Renton City Hall.

Application Process

To participate, you must commit to attending at least 6 out of 7 classes. Priority is given to residents or workers within Renton City Limits. Only those who have successfully applied and received confirmation of acceptance will be allowed to attend this academy.

If you applied for this academy prior to the pandemic, your application will remain on-file and you will receive priority seating when it becomes available again.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Must attend at least 6 out of the 7 classes
  • Attendees who miss more than one class will be asked to reapply for a later session
  • *A background check is required for a ride-along
