The success of the Youth Basketball Program depends on volunteers and we are currently looking for a few more eager coaches!
Here are some facts about becoming a coach:
- 1-2.5 hours per week depending on division (practice, game, & prep)
- We supply all equipment and coaching tutorial videos and league information
- Attend a mandatory informational coach meeting
- We let coaches choose their practice day
- The season generally runs from the beginning of December to mid-March.
- Non-competitive, fun, and instructional
All volunteer coaches need to complete the following:
- Create an online account on CERVIS, our volunteer tracking application; click ‘Apply to participate in the project’
- Pass a national background check
- Complete the free Concussions in Youth Sports Training Course Select State – Washington, click Order Course
- Complete the free Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth Sports Training Course Select State – Washington, click Order Course
- Sign and return the Coaches Code of Conduct
- Sign and Return the COVID-19 Guidelines and Release Form
Helpful Links for Volunteer Coaches
All applicants must be approved by the City's Human Resources/Risk Management Department.
Once approved, volunteers will be selected and assigned to teams by the recreation coordinator. Volunteers will only be assigned to coach teams in which their child is associated with unless otherwise specified. All approved volunteers must attend a mandatory volunteer coaches meeting held mid-November. For all the upcoming information and meeting dates, you can access the Basketball Timeline.
