Playground equipment has been replaced at five park playgrounds: Cedar River Trail Park, Tiffany Park and Teasdale Park (2019), Kennydale Beach Park (2022), and Cascade Park (2022).
Cedar River Trail Park Playground
New play equipment around a “ship” theme includes lookout decks, slides, climbing activities, and activity panels. Close to the Cedar River and Lake Washington, children will feel they are on the water with their own “ship.” The playground has received an improved accessible ramp and new Engineered Wood Fiber for safety play surfacing.
Teasdale Park Playground
New play equipment includes a variety of slides, climbing walls and steps, platforms, activity panels, a stand-up spin feature and swings. In addition to new play equipment, the playground has been improved with new drainage and Engineered Wood Fiber Play safety play surfacing.
Tiffany Park Playground
Children are enjoying the new playground equipment including, swings, slides, platforms, a bridge, climbing activities, tunnels, and play panels. Playground improvements have include new drainage and Engineered Wood Fiber safety play surfacing.
Kennydale Beach Park
New playground equipment was installed in May 2022 replacing aging equipment and updating safety requirements for sand play surfaces. The new playground features equipment for ages 2-12 and includes a variety of slides, climbers, and rope bridges. Ground-level components include a storefront panel, steppers, a balance beam, and sand diggers.
A fabric shade covers the 2–5-year-old play structure, and a stand-alone shade structure expands the amount of sheltered space for sand play or gathering. The existing picnic shelter/shade structure remains. Funding came from the Parks Capital Improvement Program.
Cascade Park Playground
The playground at Cascade Park has reopened after a playground equipment replacement project and relocation. The new playground was moved to the south, making it more visible from the neighborhood along 126th Avenue SE. This new location will also resolve flooding issues. New equipment including climbers, steppers, monkey bars, slides, spinners, and swings provide exciting play opportunities. Final work on the project will occur in early fall and include installation of site furnishings adjacent to the play area.
Construction started on May 23, 2022. Parks Planning and Natural Resources division oversaw the project. Funding came from their Capital Improvement Project fund.
