The City of Renton offers reduced rates for water, wastewater, surface water, and garbage for low-income senior citizens (61 and over), and low-income disabled citizens.
There is also a special permanent animal license available for residents with pets who meet these same qualifications.
The current yearly income limit is $84,000 per year for one resident and an additional $5,000 per year for each additional resident. Qualified residents should fill out a Reduced Rate Application. For more information or rate questions, contact the Utility Billing Customer Service at 425-430-6852.
A tax rebate is automatically issued to approved reduced rate customers and is also available for citizens that meet these reduced rate qualifications but do not receive a utility bill from the city. Proof of payment of other utilities is required for this rebate (i.e. PSE, Comcast, Qwest statements, etc.). The application deadline for a utility tax rebate is June 15 and must be re-applied for every year.
