Recent Changes

Effective December 5th, 2018 businesses with no physical location in Renton that require no additional permitting and are below $2,000 of Renton revenue will be able to obtain a general business license registration at no fee. The registration form must still be submitted either online or by paper form.

The City of Renton is excited to announce that, beginning October 1st, 2018, Renton will be joining the online portal FileLocal! Renton joins Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Everett, and Lake Forest Park on FileLocal, which aims to be a one-stop shop allowing users to file and pay B&O and other local Tax Returns and much more!

Effective for Q2 2018 filings and all future filings the City of Renton will be using a new combined tax form for B&O Tax, Utility Tax and Gambling Tax. The new form can be found under tax forms on our website.

Beginning in January 2018 the per employee license fee has been repealed. The new B&O Tax threshold is now $500,000 per year.
