Fall Recycle Event

This event will differ from past events:

  • Please read through the list of acceptable materials carefully below. We have reduced the type of materials and stations to increase social distancing and safety.

  • This event will be a mobile event, with staff retrieving recyclables from the car trunk or truck bed of customer’s vehicle.

    • Exception will be car batteries; customer will need to drop their own car battery in the back of the All Battery Truck.

  • Please pack your car in order of the recyclables list for ease of staff collecting your materials.

Based on CDC guidelines and King County Public Health, we recommend the following

  • Face masks are required for customers, staff and vendors.

  • Do not attend event if you are at increased risk for contracting COVID-19 (this includes those 60 years and older, and those with underlying medical conditions.)

  • Do not attend if you or if someone in your household is sick or has COVID-19 symptoms.

  • Thoroughly wash your hands when possible.

  • If you must exit your vehicle, keep 6 feet between you and other people.

These events are funded by the King County Waste Reduction/Recycling Program and the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County.

Acceptable Materials - Sept 12, 2020

1. Styrofoam

  • Styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap
    • Bagged packing peanuts accepted
  • Clean white block styrofoam. Look for #6 or EPS inside the recycle symbol

2. Batteries & Cell Phones

  • Battery label will state “NiCd” or “Nickel Cadmium”
    • These are rechargeable batteries typically used in cellular phones, cordless power tools, laptop computers and camcorders
  • Car, truck, marine and motorcycle lead acid batteries
  • Household alkaline batteries 
    (AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, D)

3. Uncontaminated Antifreeze

  • Store in sealed, lidded, reusable container
  • Do not mix with any other substances

4. Uncontaminated Motor Oil

  • Store in sealed, lidded, reusable container
  • Do not mix with any other substances

5. Used Oil Filters

  • All automobile filters accepted

6. Car, Pickup Truck & Motorcycle Tires

  • Bias ply, steel belted and studded tires accepted
    • Take tires off rims
    •  Limit 10 tires per load

NO semi truck or tractor tires

7. Scrap Metal & Large Appliances

  • Auto parts, lawn chairs, water heaters, lawn mowers, bikes, iron and steel
    • REMOVE all wheels and nonmetal parts
    •  REMOVE oil and fluids from auto parts and mowers

NO television sets or computers

NO car chassis

NO refrigerators, dishwashers or microwaves

  • Leaves, grass clippings, small branches, sod
    • Compost at Cedar Grove, 17825 Cedar Grove Rd SE, Maple Valley, WA 98038
  • Mattresses
  • Oil-based paint*
  • Pesticides*
  • Plastic bags
  • #1 and #2 plastic bottles
  • Propane tanks*
  • Solvents and thinners*
  • Reusable textiles, Unusable textiles

* If you cannot use up these household hazardous waste products, please visit hazwastehelp.org or call the Household Hazards Line at 206-296-4692 to find out where to dispose of them properly.
