The Hearing Examiner is an independent contractor of the City of Renton. The Hearing Examiner performs a variety of administrative and quasi-judicial duties related to matters ranging from land use and environmental activities to appeals of various administrative determinations. The Hearing Examiner renders decisions and recommendations to the City of Renton via hearings to assure due process is conducted in an impartial, objective, and timely manner.
Common Regulations
The Hearing Examiner bases decisions on adopted Renton Municipal codes and policies, state statutes, federal and local regulations, and appellate court decisions. The Hearing Examiner conducts quasi-judicial and administrative hearings; applies applicable federal, state or local standards and decisional law; receives, considers, and examines testimony and exhibits related to matters heard; and prepares a case record and enters findings, conclusions of law, decisions, and recommendations to the City of Renton.
