The Fleet Maintenance Section repairs and maintains all city vehicles and equipment, as well as provides fleet services for the Renton Regional Fire Authority and other outside agencies. Parts, supplies and fuel are procured for 627 pieces of capital equipment, plus numerous other pieces of small equipment.
In 2016 city vehicles used 272,000 gallons of fuel and drove a total of 2,050,880 miles. In addition 2,682 repairs were made to city vehicles and equipment. Six mechanics, who collaboratively have over 150 years of maintenance experience, repair and maintain the city’s total fleet of 479 vehicles ranging from basic sedans to fire trucks.
