Dear community member:

Many of you may have received a notification via a robocall from Republic Services regarding an impact to your regular service.

For those who have not received the message, it is as follows: “Due to a temporary labor disruption in the Seattle market, we are unable to service customers as scheduled Wednesday, January 12, 2022. We will collect double your regular material at no charge on your next regular service collection day. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The city was made aware of the situation this morning, a drivers strike that is affecting customers in Washington and several other states. The impact of the snowstorm caused a disruption in regular service and now this multi-state disruption is causing another impact to our community, resulting in a nearly one-month delay in regular service. We are actively discussing this disruption and alternatives for collection while reviewing solutions with Republic Services.

We understand this is incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. We will follow up as soon as we have additional information to share.

Mayor Armondo Pavone
