Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in Public Rights of Way
The City of Renton is updating a plan for how they identify, prioritize and remove barriers, specifically for those with disabilities. We need your help to identify where those barriers exist.
This plan, known as an ADA Transition Plan, provides an opportunity for the city to review its programs, activities, and services to identify barriers and changes that are needed for individuals with disabilities to fully participate in civic life. It will be used to update the city’s existing ADA Transition Plan guiding planning and implementation of necessary accessibility improvements.
This plan is guided by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, which prohibits all state and local governments from discriminating on the basis of disability. Specifically, this effort is focused on pedestrian facilities in public Rights-of-Way including curb ramps, crosswalks, and sidewalks. The update will be developed over the year with a published plan by the end of the year.
To provide feedback, or learn more about the plan visit the project page or email us at [email protected]. For TTY dial 771.
