A reflection of 2024 and a look forward at legislation and elected officials for 2025

2024 was a year of growth and continued community support. We saw:

A full return of Renton River Days and Clam Lights
Several large housing projects, including Sunset Gardens
Adoption of citywide plans, including the 2024 Comprehensive Plan and 2025-2026 Biennial Budget

During the December 2 council meeting, Councilmember James Alberson, Jr. was elected to serve as City Council President for 2025. Councilmember Ruth Pérez has been elected President Pro Tempore for the 2025 calendar year. Both will begin their term during the first council meeting on Monday, January 6, 2025.

As the 2025 Legislative Session approaches, starting Monday, January 13, the City of Renton is prepared to advocate for its key priorities: behavioral health, human services, transportation and regional connectivity, and public safety.

Renton’s legislative agenda is an opportunity for the city to advocate its needs and concerns at the Washington State Legislature. This ensures Renton is represented by state lawmakers, strengthens the relationship between the city and state government, and increases the chances of getting support for local priorities.

At the end of the Legislative Session on April 27, 2025, the city’s Government Affairs Manager and lobbyist will update the mayor, councilmembers, and community on the 2025 Legislative Session during a regularly scheduled city council meeting. Moonlight Masquerade Winter Family Dance

FEBRUARY 7, Friday, 6-8 p.m., Renton Community Center 1715 Maple Valley Hwy. Ages 3+. Dance to your favorite tunes, strike a pose in the photo booth, enjoy light refreshments, and take home a keepsake. Residents $15 and non-residents $18. Preregistration required for each attendee. Holi Renton Festival of Color

Renton City Concert Band “Destinations” Spring Concert

MARCH 16, Sunday, 2 p.m., Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center 400 S. Second St. Travel the world through music with the Renton City Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Naomi Fanshier. Tickets at the door: $13 for adults, $10 seniors and students. rentonwa.gov/events
