We provide support with finding locations, and connecting you to resources with key programs and networks. We are committed to helping your business reach its full potential.
Before you begin the process of setting up your business, you first must decide on your legal business structure (e.g., sole proprietorship, corporation, LLC). Seek advice from a tax professional or business planner if you're unsure.
Visit Washington Secretary of State to register your business (online portal) and obtain a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) if required.
After your UBI number has been issued, register your business with the Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) for tax compliance.
Complete Renton's local licensing process after state registration. Renton Business Licenses expire on January 31st of each year, you must renew before the expiration deadline to keep your business license active. Use FileLocal to apply and renew your license each year.
Determine your tax category (retail, service, wholesale etc.) and ensure alignment with the WA State DOR guidelines.
No taxes are owed in Renton until your revenue exceeds $500,000 annually. Commercial spaces may incur square footage tax if above the threshold.
