• Wear long sleeved shirts and long pants.
• If you wear contact lenses, use glasses or wear goggles.
• Use a dust mask or a damp cloth over your face if you must be in contact with ash.
• Clear heavy ash from flat or low-pitched roofs and rain gutters. Ash can accumulate and pose a threat of roof collapse.
• Avoid driving or running vehicle engines. Driving can stir up ash that can clog engines, and damage and stall vehicles. If you must drive, keep speed at or below 35 MPH.
