We invite you to contribute your unique talents and energy toward providing a richer quality of life for your community. The Volunteer Program provides a broad source of expertise, talent, and people power for City programs, as well as an avenue for residents to participate in their local government.  


MORE OPPORTUNITIES that exist within the different departments of the City including the Renton History Museum, City Hall, Police, Fire & Emergency Services Departments, Solid Waste, Surface Water, Wastewater, and Water Utilities, Parks Division, Recreation Division.  For more information contact Teresa Nishi at 425-430-6694 or email You can also download a volunteer application so we can contact you when there is an opportunity that matches your interests.  Volunteers 14-17 years old who are not accompanied must have a waiver filled out by an adult.  Download a parent/guardian waiver.


Good government is not just the responsibility of city officials and employees.  Citizens and residents also play an important role. Numerous Renton citizens devote their energy, time, and expertise to serve as appointed members on Boards and Commissions or as volunteers on various advisory committees making Renton a better place for everyone. Contact the Mayor's Office at 425-430-6500 for an application to serve as a member of a Board, Commission, or Committee, apply online, download an Application for Boards/Commissions/Committees, or  Youth Application for Boards/Commissions/Committees.
