Temporary Change of Business Hours for Community and Economic Development Department Notification

In an effort to help offset the economic challenges the City is facing from COVID-19, the Community and Economic Development Department will be closed on Fridays starting May 22, 2020 through July 24, 2020. We will do everything we can to provide the same level of service to our customers during this temporary interruption in our regular business hours.

Emergency Ordinance 5968 (effective April 20, 2020)

The Renton City Council has adopted Emergency Ordinance 5968 (effective April 20, 2020) extending building permits, land use applications, civil construction permits, and public works permits for an additional 6 months except those noted below.  This extension applies to permits that are valid (not expired) on April 20, 2020, and were issued or approved between January 1, 2015 and April 20, 2020.  In addition, the City’s Building Official has authorized a 6-month extension to building permit applications (not yet issued).

This extension applies to ALL permits with a few exceptions: Temporary Use Permits, Shoreline Permits, and Land Use Applications associated with a Development Agreement, are not extended. The City of Renton's permit system has been updated to automatically add an additional six (6) months to all permits that qualify under this Emergency Ordinance; there is no action needed by an applicant to receive this extension.
