Governor Inslee's  Proclamation 20-23, pertaining to Utility Ratepayer Assistance and Preservation of Essential Services expired on September 30, 2021.

The City of Renton is committed to keeping our customers connected to essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. If you are experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for support, including long-term payment arrangements or bill assistance. This Customer Support Policy does not relieve customers from the obligation to pay for utility services.

If you feel that you will have difficulty paying your bill, please contact utility billing Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5p.m. at 425-430-6852 and we can arrange a payment plan for you.

The Utility Billing division provides customer service, billing and revenue collections for water, sewer, surface water, and a pass through charge for King County Sewer Treatment. Utility bills are generated on the 30th of every month and due 25 days later.

New Property Owner Information

Please be aware that utility bills are tied to the real property served. Unpaid balances from the previous owner of the property will be transferred to the currently active utility account after the city has made every effort to collect the unpaid balance. Contact the closing agent if there is an unpaid balance to see if closing funds are available to clear the closed account.

All utility services may not be provided solely by the city but by a combination of local water districts, the city, and Republic Services.

Garbage Service

Garbage Service is mandatory in the city limits of Renton per Renton Municipal Code and is provided and billed directly by Republic Services.
