Covid-19 Customer Support

Governor Inslee has issued Proclamation 20-23, pertaining to Utility Ratepayer Assistance and Preservation of Essential Services. The City of Renton is committed to keeping our customers connected to essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. If you are experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for support, including long-term payment arrangements or bill assistance. This Proclamation does not relieve customers from the obligation to pay for utility services.

While public utility districts are not governed by the Utilities & Transportation Commission (UTC), this agency has been designated as the single point of contact within State government for customers seeking bill assistance information. The UTC Hotline number is 1-888-333-WUTC or email consumer@utc.wa.gov

We understand that many of our citizens may be experiencing financial hardship during this time. If you feel that you will have difficulty paying your bill, please contact utility billing at 425-430-6852 or send an email to ub@rentonwa.gov and we can arrange a payment plan for you. In addition, we have suspended late fees and disconnection of services until the end of July 2020.

The Utility Billing division provides customer service, billing and revenue collections for water, sewer, surface water, and a pass through charge for King County Sewer Treatment. Utility bills are generated on the 30th of every month and due 25 days later.

Utility Billing Forms

New Property Owner Information

Please be aware that utility bills are tied to the real property served. Unpaid balances from the previous owner of the property will be transferred to the currently active utility account after the city has made every effort to collect the unpaid balance. Contact the closing agent if there is an unpaid balance to see if closing funds are available to clear the closed account.

All utility services may not be provided solely by the city but by a combination of local water districts, the city, and Republic Services.

Garbage Service

Garbage Service is mandatory in the city limits of Renton per Renton Municipal Code and is provided and billed directly by Republic Services.
