RENTON, WA – The City of Renton is now accepting applications for 2019 tourism promotion grants. Non‐profit and government agencies that provide tourism services or operate tourism facilities that support tourism marketing and operations in Renton are eligible to apply.

Hotels, motels, private campgrounds and similar facilities collect an added sales tax from their customers, a portion of which is collected by the City of Renton. Renton City Council has appointed a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) and tasked it with distributing these funds. Members of this committee include representatives of the City of Renton, local non-profits and Renton hotels. The committee is chaired by City Councilmember Armando Pavone.

Applications from qualifying entities will be due by 5 p.m., on Friday, November 30, 2018. Applications will be reviewed and finalists will be invited to present their requests to the LTAC in early December. The committee will make its final recommendations for funding to Renton City Council by the end of the year.

An information session for prospective applicants will be offered on Friday, November 9th from 9 to 10 a.m. in room 620 on the 6th floor of Renton City Hall. Please RSVP to [email protected] to reserve your seat.
