"Sometimes a hydrant is just a hydrant. But sometimes a hydrant is more than that." Meet Renton artist Sybil Ania McIntyre the creative force behind “George the Conductor” the first piece of the Hydrant Art Project in South Renton. The project was funded by South Renton Connection.

Polar Bear Plunge

It's a Renton tradition to usher in the new year by joining family and friends for the Polar Bear Plunge, a dip into the icy waters of Lake Washington on January 1. Then we warm up with some delicious Ivar's clam chowder. Come join us.

Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar

Renton's Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar is an annual two-way event designed to help get a head star on those holiday shopping lists. Over 100 vendors from around the Puget Sound are set up shop in the Renton Community Center. The bazaar is held the third week of November.

The annual Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar is a perfect way to get a head start on your holiday shopping.

The two-day event is held at the Renton Community Center and attracts visitors and vendors from around the Puget Sound area. Admission is free to shoppers.

Winter Weather Preparations

As winter weather approaches, the City of Renton's Maintenance Services Division completed their winter preparations in October by outfitting and testing their fleet of ten plows, nine sanders and three anti-icing trucks. See how they completed the process to help ensure our streets are safe for all.

Downtown Tree Lighting and Small Business Saturday

The city traditionally starts the season with the lighting of the downtown holiday tree in Piazza Park the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The lighting caps off a day of activities including prize drawings from merchants, music, holiday treats, and activities for children at the Renton Pavilion Event Center. These activities coincide with the national Small Business Saturday campaign.

Holiday Package Tips / Safe Exchange Zone

Package thefts from homes and businesses are a constant concern. If you’re expecting package deliveries, the Renton Police Department has this short video with tips on protecting those deliveries.

The video focuses on the holiday season, but the tips are valid year-round.
