Staff from Republic Services and Renton's Solid Waste Utility can provide personalized assistance to managers and residents of apartments and condos:

Site consultations

Staff can assess the property's waste capacity and recommend changes that would decrease monthly garbage bills and improve the appearance of waste containers and enclosures. Staff can also implement recommendations, such as replacing damaged containers, posting signs, or changing collection frequency.

Resident outreach

Recycling carts

How much RECYCLING capacity should properties have?

Every unit should have at least Recycling carts0.15 cubic yards of recycling capacity per week (1 cubic yard = approximately 2 large blue carts). To determine a property's recycling needs, use the following formula:


# of units x 0.15 = # of recommended cubic yards per week

For example, apartment buildings with 80 units should have at least 12 cubic yards of recycling capacity, or 6 carts. Apartment and condo residents have unlimited recycling, so there is no charge to increase capacity.

How much GARBAGE capacity should properties have?
