Want to gain insight into how the Renton Police Department operates? If so, the Community Police Academy is for you!  Community Police Academy

The Renton Police Department is now accepting applications for the 2019 Community Police Academy, a 10-week program designed to educate participants on the “hows” and “whys” of our operations and services. Our academy offers front-line and behind-the-scenes information on law enforcement through interactive presentations and tours.

The next Community Police Academy will begin Tuesday, April 16.   Weekly sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 6-8:30 pm through June 11. There will also be a Saturday session on May 11.

Academy Goals

  • Provide the community information to gain knowledge of police operations, units, division, procedures, and protocol.

  • Develop a partnership between the community and police in order to establish a safer community.

  • Motivate the community to proactively help prevent crime to help strengthen police and community relationships.

Application Process

To participate you must be willing to commit to attend at least 8 of the 10 sessions.
Priority is given to those who live or work in Renton city limits.

**Only those applicants who have successfully registered, passed a background check, and received confirmation of acceptance will be permitted to attend this academy.**

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • No prior felony convictions
  • Must attend at least 8 of the 10 classes
  • Attendees who miss more than two classes will be asked to reapply to a later session
