Are teams organized by skill or age?

All athletes of all skill levels are welcome to play. We divide our programs up by age and grade.

Does the Youth Sports program offer scholarships?

The City of Renton offers a Gift of Play Recreation Scholarship for eligible youth between the ages of 9 months to 18 years old. A form can be picked up at the Renton Community Center, Highlands Neighborhood Center, Renton Senior Activity Center or found online at rentonwa.gov/giftofplay 

How are refunds issued?

Prior to the course starting a full credit will be issued upon request. After the start of the course a refund request must be submitted to [email protected]. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

What happens if a course is cancelled?

If a course session is cancelled, the class may be rescheduled or a credit will be issued to the customer account. (this does not include sport leagues such as baseball, basketball, track & field or cross country). If weather is the cause for cancellation, of a game or meet, we will attempt to make it up, but that is not always possible. 

How can I find practice locations?

Practice locations are designated at registration. Addresses may be found online at rentonwa.gov/parks

Where can I get a Volunteer Coaching application?

All volunteers will need to create a Cervis account and fill out an application which can be found at rentonwa.gov/volunteerunder Ongoing Programs – Youth Athletic Coaches. We require a background check for all volunteers

Do parents need to purchase any kind of special gear?

Athletic clothing and closed toe shoes are recommended for every sport. Depending on the sport there could be more gear may be needed.
