Construction Projects

Playground Update Project - May 2022

Drawing of the proposed playground at Cascade Park

The Cascade Park playground is planned for relocation and equipment replacement to address aging equipment and flooding issues. The project will also increase the playground's visibility from the neighborhood. The proposed playground will be located further south of the existing loop trail, making it visible from 126th Avenue SE. The play area will have engineered wood fiber surfacing. The area will be expanded to provide a greater variety of equipment to serve all ages.

Construction began May 23, 2022 and was completed on Aug. 2.

The playground was expanded and relocated to an area with better drainage and more visibility from 126th Avenue SW. Bright, new, age-appropriate equipment including climbers, steppers, monkey bars, slides, spinners, and swings provide exciting play opportunities. Final work on the project will occur in early fall and include installation of site furnishings adjacent to the play area.
Construction started on May 23. Parks Planning and Natural Resources division oversaw the project. Funding came from their Capital Improvement Project fund.

Cascade Park Expansion Project

Cascade Park Expansion

Expanding Cascade Park was first identified in the 2009 adopted Parks, Recreation and Natural Areas Plan as per the Concept Plan.

Located within the Benson Community Planning Area, this 8,710 square foot developed parcel was acquired in 2016 and increases the existing 10.8 acre Cascade Park to 11 acres.

The house has been demolished and the site graded and seeded, significantly expanding visual access to the park from the adjoining neighborhood.

Located within the Benson Community Planning Area, this 4.9 acre open space parcel, is one step closer to making the connection between the 11 acre Cascade Park to the 6.7 acre Tiffany Park. The Tiffany-Cascade property was acquired in 2012 with project costs being offset with 50% grant funding.
