Contribute talents and energy toward providing a richer quality of life for Renton. The volunteer program provides a broad source of expertise, talent, and people power for city programs, as well as an avenue for residents to participate in their local government.

City of Renton volunteer opportunities include one time events, and on-going/seasonal programs.

Up-coming one time events are Arbor Day & Earth Day, Spring Green & Clean and Spring Recycle Event.

At this time, there are no volunteer opportunities for court-appointed community service hours.

One Time Events

Arbor Day & Earth Day
Saturday, April 28, 2018
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tiffany Park, 1902 Lake Youngs Way SE

Join us to plant trees & shrubs and help with beautification of the park!

  • All ages welcome! Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children between 13 to 17 who are not accompanied by an adult must have the parent/guardian waiver filled out.

Spring Recycle Event
Saturday, May 5, 2018
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Renton Technical College
NE 6th Pl & Monroe Ave NE

  • All day or half-day shifts (9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 to 3 p.m.)
  • Help greet residents, direct traffic and help sort plastics at this recycle event. 
  • Volunteers receive a free lunch for all their hard work.

A great way to dig in and help maintain the parks for everyone to enjoy.

  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children between ages 13 to 17 who are not accompanied must have a waiver filled out by an adult.

On-going or seasonal volunteer opportunities

Renton Youth Council

The Renton Youth Council (RYC) consists of teens who attend middle or high school in Renton. Recreation division staff, organize group activities, provides instruction about youth issues, and coordinates volunteer activities at community events.

Specialized Recreation

The Specialized Recreation Program provides a variety of inclusive recreational opportunities, as well as adaptive programs designed for individuals with disabilities.

Volunteers are needed to coach sports teams, assist with social functions, art program and participate in our inclusive theater production.
