Mayor Armondo Pavone elected as SCA Board VP

RENTON, WA ­(JANUARY 31, 2025) – Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone was recently elected to serve as Vice President for the Sound Cities Association Board of Directors for the 2025 calendar year. Sound Cities Association represents a consortium of 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for the interests of more than one million people.

Des Moines Mayor Traci Buxton, recently elected President for SCA remarked on the election, “Mayor Pavone is an excellent asset to the Association, as a forward-thinking and collaborative leader who cares deeply about the impact of decisions we make today that will shape the future of the Puget Sound region,” said Buxton. “I’m looking forward to working with him this year as Vice President.”  

Mayor Pavone was unanimously elected to his role as Vice President of the Board of Directors for SCA, which consists of councilmembers and mayors in King County elected by their peers to oversee the 38-city association. The Association is comprised of the 38 member cities in King County with populations under 250,000.

Speaking to his new position, Mayor Pavone remarked, “I’m looking forward to working with President Buxton on her goals to strengthen collaboration and enhance member services for the organization.  SCA members have a real opportunity to make the needs of our respective communities heard.” 

Pavone served as a Renton City Councilmember for seven years prior to his election to the office of Mayor for the City of Renton in 2019.  Currently serving his second term as mayor, Pavone was first elected to the SCA Board of Directors in 2023 and began his second term in 2025. As a lifelong Renton resident and business owner, Pavone is an active community supporter, serving on several regional and city boards and committees, including the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC).
