City of Renton Arterial Traffic Impacts

Week of May 22, 2017

 Note:  All projects are weather permitting and unless otherwise noted streets will always remain open.  Please note Harrington Avenue NE, Sunset Lane NE and Glennwood Avenue NE will be closed until approximately July 31, 2017.

I-406/SR 167 Project
ALERT – SIGNIFICANT NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES - Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, 2017: Northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures along SR 167 and I-405 are scheduled this week related to the I-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project. More detailed information about these restrictions and closures is available tonight on the back table. The information outlines specific dates and time of the closure. ALERT – Monday, May 29 – In addition as part of this project SR 515 (Talbot Road South) will be closed between the southbound I-405 off ramp and the northbound I-405 on ramp from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Logan Avenue North
Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, May 26:
Intermittent curb lane closures in both directions of Logan Avenue North between North 6th Street and Lake Washington Blvd. between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for preventative maintenance of utility lines. Questions may be directed to Jayson Gallaway at (425) 757-4107.

Lake Washington Boulevard
Monday, May 22 through approximately Thursday, June 1:

Street maintenance crews will be repairing pavement in both directions along Lake Washington Blvd. between North 20th Street and Burnett Avenue North. Expect intermittent lane closures daily Mondays through Thursdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Questions may be directed to John Kalmbach (425) 766-6183.

South Second Street
EXPECT DELAYS Monday, May 22 through approximately Friday, June 30, 2017:
South 2nd Street, east of and adjacent to the intersection of Main Avenue South and South 2nd Street, will be closed for a period not to exceed two months. A map showing alternative routes through this area is available tonight on the back table. Questions may be directed to Keith Woolley (425) 430-7318.

Intersection of NE 10th Street and Harrington Avenue NE
Monday, May 22 through approximately Friday, July 14, 2017:
The intersection of NE 10th Street and Harrington Avenue NE will be closed to accommodate construction of the Sunset Neighborhood Park and surrounding area. A map showing alternative routes through this area is available tonight on the back table. Questions may be directed to Keith Woolley (425) 430-7318.

Harrington Avenue NE, Sunset Lane NE and Glennwood Avenue NE
Monday, May 22 through approximately Friday, July 28, 2017:
Complete road closure of Harrington Avenue NE, Sunset Lane NE and Glennwood Avenue NE for approximately one year to accommodate the Sunset Lane NE Roadway Improvements Project. Detours are in place. Questions may be directed to Keith Woolley at (425) 430-7318.

Highlands Sewer Main and Manhole Rehabilitation Project
Monday, May 22 through approximately August 31, 2017:
Expect some intermittent lane closures in the Highlands as a result of the Highlands Sewer Main and Manhole Rehabilitation Project, between NE Sunset Blvd. and NE 4th Street, from approximately
I-405 to Monroe Avenue NE. Lining of the sewer mains is expected to be completed by July 1, however rehabilitation of some manholes will continue through August 31. Questions may be directed to John Hobson at (425) 430-7279.

80th Avenue
Tuesday, May 29 through approximately Friday, September 1, 2017:
The City of Kent will be conducting a pavement rehabilitation project along 80th Avenue South between South 194th Street and South 190th Street. This project is near the City of Renton border. Lane reductions and/or closures may impact Renton residents. Questions may be directed to City of Kent Pavement Manager Joe Araucto at (253) 856-5664 or via email at jaraucto@kentwa.gov.

Routine Maintenance Work

City utility maintenance crews will be conducting routine preventative maintenance on lines in a couple of heavily traveled areas over the next two weeks resulting in some lane closures. As always, emergency vehicles will be given priority access, but wanted to share this information with you.

The dates, times and locations are:

  • Tuesday, May 16 through Friday, May 19 – Logan Avenue North between North 6th Street and Lake Washington Blvd. (curb lane in both directions); 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, May 26 – Logan Avenue North between North 6th Street and Lake Washington Blvd. (curb lane in both directions); 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Ramp and Lane Closures Scheduled the Week of May 16 (5/15/17 – 5/20/17)

 

State route lane closures:

  • Monday, May 15, to the morning of Friday, May 19 – One lane of northbound SR-167 from S 180th Street to I-405 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Monday, May 15, to the morning of Friday, May 19 – One lane of northbound I-405 from SR-167 to Talbot Road S will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Monday, May 15, to the morning of Friday, May 19 – One lane of southbound I-405 from Talbot Road S to SR-167 will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Ramp closures:

  • Wednesday, May 15, to the morning of Friday, May 19 – The S 180th Street on-ramp to northbound SR-167 will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. 
  • Wednesday, May 15, to the morning of Friday, May 19 – The southbound I-405 ramp to Talbot Road S will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
***Ramp revision is scheduled on the night of Saturday, May 20th, for the southbound I-405 ramp to Rainier Ave S/SR-167. Motorists planning to take the southbound I-405 ramp to southbound SR-167 will need to take the exit for Rainier Ave S to reach southbound SR-167. 

City Street closure:
  • Monday, May 15, to Friday, May 19 – The northbound E Valley Road between SW 23rd St and SW 19th St will be closed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
