Mayor Law Fills Civil Service Commission Vacancy

Renton, WA: Renton Mayor Denis Law has appointed Renton resident Brent Beden to fill the position on the Renton Civil Service Commission previously held by Richard Fisher. Mr. Fisher served on the commission for 14 years until his death on April 10, 2015. The Civil Service Commission organizes and enforces provisions established in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) relating to rules, regulations, and personnel operations within the municipal police and fire departments. Beden’s term expires December 31, 2018.

“I am pleased to appoint Brent Beden to our Civil Service Commission,” said Mayor Denis Law. “Brent is a leader with extensive experience in criminal justice and will be a valued contributor to the commission.”
Currently retired, Beden has over 33 years of experience in the criminal justice system, having served in the Issaquah Police Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office, retiring at the rank of Captain. Beden has also served as an instructor for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. He received his BA in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University at Ellensburg, and has been a Renton resident for 15 years.
