Flights by U.S. Navy Blue Angels to disrupt air travel throughout region Thursday to Sunday

RENTON: With the arrival of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in Seattle for the Boeing Air Show at Seafair later this week, pilots should anticipate temporary short-term closures of the runway at Renton Municipal Airport Thursday through Sunday. The temporary closures will affect all aircraft planning to use the airstrip, but some helicopter activity may be allowed at the north end of the runway.

The scheduled closure times at the Renton Municipal Airport are as follows:

Thursday, August 2  10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1:15 to 2:30 p.m.
Friday, August 3 1 to 3 p.m.
Saturday, August 4 1 to 3 p.m.
Sunday, August 5 1 to 3 p.m.

In addition to closures at Renton Municipal Airport, all lanes of Interstate 90 across Lake Washington will be closed several times on Thursday, August 2, through Sunday, August 5, to accommodate air show practices and performances by the Blue Angels.

The visit by the Blue Angels, as part of the Boeing Air Show, marks the culmination of the six-week Seafair festival held every year in this region. In addition to the Blue Angels, the 2012 lineup of the Boeing Air Show includes a wide variety of air performances. For more information about the Blue Angels and the Boeing Air Show visit
