Renton Gears Up for another Seahawks Training Camp

Flags and Banners Welcome Seahawks Fans for fourth annual Bing Training Camp

RENTON – The city is going all out to welcome the fourth annual Bing Training Camp to Renton. Mayor Denis Law presented a proclamation on Monday, July 16, declaring August 10 to be Seahawks Spirit Day, and the “12” flag is flying high above Renton City Hall and several other public facilities. Over 20,000 fans are expected to attend training camp that begins on July 28 in Renton.

Throughout the city “Renton Welcomes Seahawks Fans” banners will proudly tout fan spirit, and local businesses, organizations and fans will display Training Camp 2012 cheer cards. Fans can download cheer cards from the city’s website at rentonwa.gov. Everyone is being asked to wear blue and green colors and put on their “12” buttons on August 10 to show their support. Businesses are also encouraged to use their own reader boards to celebrate Seahawks Training Camp 2012 in Renton.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome another Seahawks Training Camp to Renton. I encourage fans to spread the Seahawks Spirit throughout the city,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law. “While you are here at training camp, please enjoy all that Renton has to offer–great shopping, fabulous restaurants, parks, and recreation activities.”

The fourth annual training camp at the spectacular Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC), the Seattle Seahawks’ headquarters and training facility in Renton, starts on July 28 and includes practices through August 15. The Landing in Renton will serve as the parking and transportation center. Fans interested in attending training camp should visit seahawks.com.

The Renton Community Marketing Campaign is taking advantage of the large volume of visitors coming to Renton by promoting opportunities to shop, dine, stay and play in Renton. The Seahawks’ website, www.seahawks.com, features information about opportunities for visitors coming to Renton. Visitors to training camp will receive Seahawks cheer cards featuring discounts at The Landing, and the Renton Chamber of Commerce’s Visitors Guides will be distributed by Chamber Ambassadors to visitors. This year, the Renton Community Marketing Campaign is also partnering with the Seahawks on an innovative and fun “12th Fan Takes Renton” photo contest encouraging Seahawks fans to take their photo at one of 3 Renton landmarks in their Seahawks gear. The contest will be conducted on Twitter and begins on August 1. Winners will receive gift cards to Renton businesses and the grand prize winner will receive a tour for four of the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.
