Abandoned cars that are impeding safety operations being towed

RENTON: With continued winter weather conditions, abandoned vehicles that create driving hazards for others and interfere with sanding truck operations continue to create dangerous road conditions. Cars that impede the city’s ability to make the streets safe and impede sanding trucks that are applying sand, chemicals, and providing other snow removal measures are being towed.

The city’s Public Works crews are asking the public for their help to remove abandoned and/or damaged vehicles from roadways as soon as possible in order to better assist them and reduce the risk for other drivers.

Cold temperatures are going to continue throughout the day and into tomorrow according to forecasters, so drivers again are reminded to drive only when necessary and to be prepared with a full tank of gas and emergency supplies.

In addition to the various city facilities that are closed today, Tuesday, November 23, 2010, all branches of the King County Library System, including the Renton libraries, are closed. Please visit KCLS.org for more information.
