Curvee Awards Gala to Honor Top Films at Third Annual Renton FilmFrenzy

Renton, WA – “The envelope, please.  And the Curvee for Best Picture for ahead of the curve filmmaking goes to…..”

Don’t miss the excitement when the Third Annual Renton FilmFrenzy comes to a gala conclusion at the Curvee Awards Ceremony from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, 400 South Second Street. 

During the awards ceremony, the top films produced during this 50-hour filmmaking competition will be screened.  The Curvee Awards Ceremony is open to the public and is free!  A record number of 18 films were submitted for the 2010 FilmFrenzy.  Filmmakers were provided with three “CurveBall” challenges, which included incorporating a line of dialogue, a location and a landmark into the film.  Films were required to be completely shot in Renton.  

The Curvee Awards Gala will be hosted by Jim Dever from KING TV.

Prizes
The coveted Curvee Award, cash prizes and a screenwriting scholarship will be presented during the gala.

Best Picture - $500

Open Division            
            First Prize - $250
            Second Prize - $200
            Third Prize - $150

Student Division (high school and below)
            First Prize - $250
            Second Prize - $200
            Third Prize - $150

Celebrating the slogan “Renton, Ahead of the Curve,” special Curvee awards have been crafted by local artisans for presentation to selected filmmakers, along with cash prizes.

Downtown FilmWalk
The Third Annual Renton Downtown FilmWalk will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, and Thursday, October 28.  During the FilmWalk there will be a special screening of all the films entered in the Renton FilmFrenzy at downtown participating Renton restaurants and other venues. The public is welcome to attend and there is no admission fee.

The Renton FilmFrenzy is sponsored by the Renton Community Marketing Campaign, which includes the Renton Chamber of Commerce, Renton School District, Valley Medical Center, Renton Technical College, Renton Visitors Connection and City of Renton.
