RENTON – The City of Renton is pleased to announce that Mehdi Sadri is the new Information Technology Director and Tim Williams has been appointed as the Recreation Director.

Mahdi Sadri IT DirectorSadri will be responsible for managing the city’s information technology division. This division provides information technology services to all city departments and manages communication and data center operations, network services, application development and maintenance, end-user PC support, and administration for the city's existing telecommunications contracts.

Prior to joining Renton, Sadri served as IT Director, City of Federal Way. He was responsible for establishing the technology services for the police department and the municipal court. He also set up and managed the city’s website, GIS services and the government access cable operations. Sadri earned his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Oregon State University.

“I am very excited to welcome Mehdi to our team,” said Iwen Wang, Finance and Information Technology Administrator. “Mehdi brings vision, leadership and tremendous experience, and is committed to technological innovation and customer service to our community.”

“It is a privilege to be a part of this organization and community,” said Sadri. “My goal is to use information technology as a tool to make information and government services accessible to all, make it easier for our citizens to participate, and help transform the relationship between government and the community.”

Sadri came to the U.S. in 1977 from Iran. He likes gardening, building things around the house and is very interested in local, national and international news. He has a daughter and lives in Federal Way.

Tim WilliamsAs the Recreation Director, Tim Williams will oversee the city’s Recreation Division, which is responsible for a diverse range of recreational activities designed to meet the needs of all Renton area citizens. These programs include preschool, youth, teen and adult leisure programs; youth, teen and adult athletics; fitness and wellness programs; outdoor recreational opportunities; cultural arts programs and programs designed to provide social and recreational opportunities to senior citizens and those with special needs.

Williams comes to Renton from the City of South Salt Lake in Utah, where he was the Director of Parks and Recreation.  He has over 15 years of experience and has managed 22 acres of parks, 4 miles of trails, two community centers, a swimming pool, a museum, and all levels of recreation including special events, athletics and various programs. He was responsible for acquiring over $3 million in grant funds.

"Tim has an outstanding record of service and has proven himself time and time again as a strong leader,” said Terry Higashiyama, Community Services Administrator. "I have confidence that he will lead and strengthen our city in significant ways as we continue to enhance community livability."

“The City of Renton is a wonderful community that values a high quality of life, and I look forward to working here,” said Williams. “In the brief time I have spent in Renton I’ve realized how popular the recreation programs are and that they focus on providing something for everyone. My role is to raise the bar and enhance all areas of this division.”

Williams enjoys the outdoors, surf, sea and sand, along with high adventure mountains and trails. He loves all kinds of sports. Tim has been married for 19 years to wife Nancy and has six children. He spends time with his family camping, swimming, bike riding and playing games.
