RENTON:  The City of Renton Fire & Emergency Services Department is celebrating 105 years of service.

Fire Stations 11, 12 and 13 will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 6, 2008, in recognition of this commemorative celebration. The public is welcome to stop by and tour the fire stations, meet firefighters and learn more about the many services the department provides.

In addition to the open houses, the City of Renton and the Firefighters Local 864, will host the 2008 FireBall, an evening of dinner and dancing on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Spirit of Washington Event Center in downtown Renton. Tickets for the FireBall cost $60 per person and can be purchased at or by calling Kelly Carey at 425-430-7053. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Aid Car Fund, which was established in the early 1970’s for the purchase of aid supplies, Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and other equipment.

“We encourage everyone to join us in this special celebration,” said Fire Chief/Emergency Services Administrator David Daniels. “This fire department is proud to serve and protect the residents of this community and these events celebrate the department’s history of dedicated service.”
