RENTON: The City of Renton is pleased to announce that Iwen Wang has been appointed Finance and Information Services Department Administrator.  Ms. Wang will assume her new role today.

Under the direction of the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer, and as a member of the senior management team, Wang will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the city’s Finance division, including financial planning ($223 million annual budget); financial operations (treasury, accounting, financial reporting, payroll and procurement); and the city’s Information Services division.

Wang has served as Assistant City Manager and Chief Financial Officer for the City of Federal Way since 2007.  She has extensive experience in municipal finance and in managing city services, including budget, finance, human resources, information technology, risk management, fleet and printing services.  She played a key role during the incorporation efforts of Federal Way, including overseeing the formation of the city's full-service police department.  Wang is not new to the City of Renton. She served as the city’s Deputy Finance Director from 1989 through 1994, before joining the City of Federal Way as Management Services Director.

"Renton is lucky to find someone with the range of financial skills and public sector experience that Iwen offers," said Mayor Denis Law. “With her strong background in municipal finance she will help the city focus on strong financial practices that will greatly enhance our ability to build upon our successes and face the challenges ahead. I’m eager to have Iwen join our team.”

“Renton is a beautiful, vibrant and progressive community, and its city government is recognized as one of the best in our region," said Wang. “I’m thrilled and honored to have been selected to become a member of the city team.”

Wang has over 20 years of senior and executive level management experience in the field of municipal finance. She earned her MBA in Finance from the University of Houston in 1981. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Public Finance from the National Chen-Chi University, Taipei, in 1971.

Ms. Wang is a certified public accountant (CPA), and a certified management accountant (CMA), and served on the Washington Finance Officers Association Board of Directors, and the Washington State Streamlined Sales Tax Mitigation Advisory Committee, 2007.
