RENTON-The City of Renton’s Fire & Emergency Services Department has received a $36,000 donation from the estate of a Renton resident.

Maxine Isham was a long-time resident of Renton who lived in the Kennydale area for 46 years. This donation was to express her appreciation for the assistance the department provided her at the time of her husband’s passing as well as the care she received for an injury a few years later.

“We strive to provide exceptional service to our citizens,” said Mayor Denis Law.  “Mrs. Isham’s generous acknowledgment of the efforts of our firefighters is truly appreciated. Thanks to her donation we can obtain additional emergency medical supplies and equipment to serve our community.”

The donation is managed by the Renton Memorial Aid Fund, which is used to enhance and support the emergency medical service efforts provided by the city’s Fire & Emergency Services Department.  In the past, resources from this fund have been used to help pay for an aid car, purchasing public access defibrillators, and obtaining supplies and materials for the “Renton Heart Month” campaign.

“The Fire & Emergency Services Department is very appreciative of this generous donation,” said David Daniels, Fire Chief/Emergency Services Administrator.  “Though we certainly don’t expect these kinds of accolades, it’s heartwarming to see appreciation for our department expressed in such a tangible way.”
