RENTON – The dust is settling in South Lake Washington and with it, a sure sign that The Landing’s presence as an exciting retail and lifestyle center is immanent: “Now Hiring” signs are up alongside construction notices and billboards.

The first phase of The Landing, a $300 million, 46-acre urban village-style shopping center development at the south end of Lake Washington, is scheduled to open in mid-October.  The Landing will be completed in Spring 2008 and will include approximately 600,000 square feet of national and local retail stores, restaurants and cafes, and nearly 1,000 residential units.

Large retailers such as Lowe’s, Staples, and Target have already begun their efforts to fill jobs at Landing locations.  Retailers and community partners have come together to present the first Landing Job Fair.  The City of Renton, Renton Chamber of Commerce, Renton Technical College, the Renton School District, Puget Sound Training Center, Washington State University-Extension, BuRSST, and WorkSource are providing a range of service offerings and expertise to help expedite this important move forward in regional economic development.

The “Ahead of the Curve” Landing Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, September 20, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Renton Technical College (3000 NE 4th Street, Roberts Campus Center, Building I Foyer).
