Rainier Avenue Re-opens at 3:45 pm, Monday, Aug. 13

The BNSF Railway Company in cooperation with City of Renton has completed railroad bridge removal work on Rainier Ave. S. ahead of schedule and has opened the major thoroughfare in time for the Monday evening commute, more than two days ahead of time.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to limit the impact of this road closure to less than three days. Businesses, commuters, and residents are all pleased with this outcome,” says Peter Hahn, Acting Administrator, Planning, Building and Public Works.

Railroad bridge replacements will continue on schedule for Hardie and Shattuck Avenues with respective detours for both roads. Closure and detours for both are scheduled to immediately follow the Rainier Ave. construction, starting August 16. Hardie will re-open August 20, and Shattuck will remain closed through December 28.
