The 2007 IKEA Renton River Days - A Weeklong Family Festival and Celebration
Events in Liberty Park: July 25 and July 27 – 29

RENTON--"Discover the Heart of Renton" is more than just a theme for 2007 IKEA Renton River Days. It's an invitation to explore the diverse offerings that highlight Renton's passion for music, art, food and it's active lifestyle. With different events and activities for all generations, the festival brings the community together for a mid-summer showcase of fun and entertainment. Come discover for yourself!

On July 25, Kids' Day highlights include two performances by the Wenatchee Youth Circus at 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Tickets cost just $1.00 per person and are available in the park.  From 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., explore nearly 40 booths for kids all providing some type of free game, activity, or craft. New this year, visit Rick Hartman’s Toymaker Workshop, where each child can make a toy for free. The day also features free inflatables, caricaturist, and face painting.

Weekend festival highlights include the parade on South 3rd Street in downtown Renton beginning at 10:00 a.m on Saturday, July 28.  Other weekend festival traditions include the Art Market (arts and crafts), Quilt Show, Chalk Art Contest, Nibble of Renton and stage entertainment at Liberty Park, the Renton Annual Art Show at the Community Center, pancake breakfast at the Senior Activity Center, and the Downtown Antique District Sidewalk Sale.  On Saturday, participate in the Volkssport 5K, 10K or 20K Fun Walks (starting from Renton Memorial Stadium at 8:00 a.m.), or the River Days Fun Run & Walk (starting from the Community Center at 8:45 a.m.).  On Sunday, July 29, at 4:30 p.m., don’t miss the Rubber Ducky Derby down the Cedar River, starting from the Houser Street Bridge.

New festival activities for 2007 include the Tennis Tournaments, Downtown Renton Window Display Contest, Dizzy’s Tumble Bus and Happy Hula Hooping. There’s much more to do and see from Boatstock to the BMW’s Concours d’Elegance, from pony rides to the petting zoo.  Visit for all the festival fun.

Become part of the team and help volunteer on Kids' Day, July 25, or our main 3-day weekend, July 27-29.  Email Sonja Mejlaender at or call (425) 430-6528.  Volunteer opportunities include assisting with children's activities, the information booth, parade, plus much more.  More volunteers are needed so call right away!
